I am busy making new friends and not spending much time creating. However, a dumping of snow has put me indoors and alone for the weekend…it started stirring earlier this week when I met some new friends, Sabrina and Sarah, who greatly encouraged these “creative endeavors” in me, so I have been grateful for the time this weekend to create.
Sabrina told me her daughter LOVES art, so Kenedy and I have a “date” tomorrow night to decorate sweat pants with puff paints. Apparently, this is all the rage in fourth grade classrooms right now. I am looking forward to spending time with her and praying that the Lord would use the time to stir up the gift of art in her.
I wanted to give her something, and happened to stop by an art store with a friend after church today. I walked in and said, “Lord, direct me to what you want me to give her.” He led me to a sketchbook with a canvas cover that she can paint and some watercolor colored pencils. To get the book started for her, I doodled on the first page for her…
I’ve also been working on another project that has been a loooooong time coming. Kim texted on their way to Texas and said, “Can you finish the Knower book?” This is a children’s book she and I have been working on for about 3 years… (Disclaimer: I am great a starting projects; not so great at finishing them, so I am grateful for ones like Kim who push me to get them done.)
The story is called “The Knows in My Knower” and it started out as a story I wrote after I conversation Kim and I had a long time ago, when she said, “Hannah, I know things in my knower and if you don’t know them, I can’t explain them to you…but if you really want to know, ask Him and He will show you.”
How we came up with elephants is another story and one that spans 500 miles, but this is the little elephant I drew in 2010 when I started illustrating it…
2010…Began illustrating and page layout design
2012…It will be finished!
